100 Lagu Slow Rock Terbaik Sepanjang Masa

Stairway to Heaven” telah dinobatkan Korando sebagai Lagu Rock Terbaik Sepanjang Masa. “Stairway to Heaven” adalah sebuah lagu oleh band rock band Led Zeppelin dari Inggris. Lagu melankolis ini dikarang oleh gitaris Jimmy Page dan penyanyi Robert Plant untuk album studio keempat band tersebut, Led Zeppelin IV. Stairway to Heaven dipilih sebagai lagu no. 3 pada tahun 2000 oleh VH1 dalam daftar mereka, 100 Lagu Terbesar. Lagu apik ini adalah lagu yang paling banyak diminta dan paling banyak diputar di stasiun-stasiun radio FM di Amerika Serikat, meskipun di sana lagu ini tidak pernah diterbitkan sebagai singgel. Pada November 2007, melalui penjualan unduhan yang mempromosikan penerbitan album mereka yang terbaru Mothership, lagu ini menduduki tempat ke-37 di Deretan Singgel Britania
 
Rekaman “Stairway to Heaven” dimulai pada Desember 1970 di Basing Street Studios yang baru milik Island Records di London. Lagu ini diselesaikan dengan lirik tambahan oleh Plant dalam sesi-sesi untuk Led Zeppelin IV di Headley Grange, Hampshire, pada 1971.Page kemudian kembali ke Island Studios untuk merekam solo gitarnya. Led Zeppelin pemain bas John  Paul Jones , penulis utama utama lagu ini menciptakan lagu ini secara tidak biasa. Irama dan alur lagu menari berkelok-kelok dan  perubahan ritme yang kompleks.

 

Dalam sebuah wawancara, Jones menjelaskan kesulitan yang dialami  oleh band dalam menulis lagu: Saya ingin mencoba sebuah  blues listrik dengan bagian bass yang dominan. Aku ingin  kembali pada dirinya sendiri. Saya  menunjukkan kepada orang-orang, dan kita jatuh ke dalamnya.  
Judul lagu itu adalah referensi ke sebuah  bernama hitam Labrador  retriever yang berkeliaran di sekitar Grange  Headley studio selama perekaman. Anjing tidak ada  hubungannya dengan lirik lagu (walaupun garis “Mata yang bersinar membakar  merah” mirip dengan anjing  Hitam legenda), yang tentang keinginan putus asa untuk cinta seorang wanita dan kebahagiaan yang dihasilkan demikian. Mengenai lirik lagu, Plant kemudian mengatakan, “Tidak semua barang saya adalah dimaksudkan untuk diteliti Hal-hal seperti” Black Dog “yang  terang-terangan, let’s-do-it-di-mandi-hal-hal jenis, tapi mereka membuat titik  mereka. sama saja. ” membutuhkan vokal Plant tercatat dalam dua.
